Holiday of Errors completes Indiegogo Campaign

We completed our Indiegogo Campaign this week, raising $3,901 through online contributions.  Furthermore, additional donors mailed in $350 worth of contributions directly to One Lump or Two Productions, bringing us in at over $4,200!

Indiegogo Campaign

On October 9, 2013, One Lump or Two Productions launched a 45-day Indiegogo Campaign  to jump-start Holiday of Errors.

A tasty, theatrical Christmas confection…

  • a sprinkle of Shakespeare in Love.

Blend into a comedy of Elizabethan proportions full of historical inaccuracies and slanderous fabrications. Serves Everyone!

The Project

Holiday of Errors, an original Christmas comedy by Daniel Flint and Frank Lawler (co-authors, along with Jason Marr, of The Elsinore Diaries), will premiere at the Armory/Center House Theatre at Seattle Center, and will run from December 5 to December 22, 2013. Production logistics will be handled by Sound Theatre Company, and the show will be directed by Teresa Thuman, who has worked as a director, instructor or actress with many theatre organizations on the West Coast, including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the University of Washington School of Drama PATP, Cornish College, Freehold and the PCPA Theatrefest in California. Most recently, Teresa helmed the Bacchae for Greenstage.

The Story

Will Shakespeare and Dick Burbage face a grim Christmas Eve.Their friend Christopher Marlowe is dead and their theater is facing closure…when an invitation from Queen Elizabeth arrives, commissioning a new play for the holidays. With less than a fortnight to pen a masterpiece worthy of her Majesty, the Bard faces his greatest enemy: writer’s block…until the ghost of Kit Marlowe appears and inspires Will to put quill back to paper once more! Toss in a cross-dressing actress, a puritanical chamberlain, a randy monarch and an inebriated earl, and you’ll get a Twelfth Night to remember!

Who We Are

Daniel Flint and Frank Lawler (along with fellow theatre artist Jason Marr) are part of a writing partnership called One Lump or Two Productions.

The three have been acting individually, collectively and bi-coastally on stages in both Washingtons (the Puget Sound area and the District of Columbia) over the past ten years, including such venues as ACT Theatre, Harlequin Productions, Intiman, Seattle Public Theatre, The Studio Theatre, The Folger Shakespeare Theatre, The Shakespeare Theatre Company, Taproot Theatre, Taffety Punk Theatre Company,and Seattle Shakespeare Company. Their first play, The Elsinore Diaries, sold out its first run at the Seattle Fringe Festival, and was remounted as a full production to great acclaim:

Where Your Money Goes

We need to raise enough money to cover our upfront costs, which include:

  • Cast and crew stipends
  • Designer fees
  • Costumes, scenery and props
  • Rental of rehearsal and performance space
  • Printing and copying fees
  • Advertising, ticketing and house management costs

Ticket revenue will eventually cover some of these expenses, but theatre ticket sales, as you probably know, only cover part of the cost of producing a show, particularly because we need to keep tickets affordable.
